About the role
The purpose of this role is to work in partnership with women to provide contemporary evidence based women and baby focused care, in collaboration with the interprofessional health care team to facilitate optimal health outcomes and undertake delegated activities while assuming individual accountability for actions within the position and context of practice.
About you
This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
1. Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 8, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health and Department of Education) Certified Agreement (EB11) (2022) – Midwifery Generic Level Statements (GLS) Midwife Grade 5 and the Queensland Health and Metro North Health's commitments and values, in achievement of the organisational goals and Domains of Practice.
2. Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting midwifery practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
3. Apply clinical midwifery expertise, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, to deliver a high standard of woman and baby centred care.
4. Demonstrate a sound understanding, knowledge and respect for the cultural beliefs, practices, family kinship, history and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, ensuring care is delivered in a culturally safe manner.
5. Act as an advocate for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander pregnant women and families, empowering them to make informed decisions about their healthcare and working to address any barriers or challenges they may face within the healthcare system.
6. Collaborate with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities, healthcare professionals, and other support services to coordinate care, provide referrals, and establish effective pathways for access to healthcare resources.
