Your Opportunity
Are you passionate about making a real difference in mental health?
Mission Australia is excited to partner in the innovative Head to Health Program in the Murrumbidgee region, launching a new centre that will provide vital support to adults, families, and friends in mental health crises.
The centre will provide mental health care or help find the right support services for the individual needs of the client and their families.
As a Family Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in this transformative initiative, offering wrap-around support to families, helping them develop essential parenting skills, and connecting them with schools, services, and community resources.
Based at the Head to Health office in Young, you’ll enjoy flexible working hours of 22.8 hours per week, spread over 3 days or adjusted to suit your needs.

Your key responsibilities will to:
* Work in partnership with Head to Health to engage families who are at risk of significant harm.
* Provide strengths based holistic case management practice to families with children and young people.
* Focus on parental vulnerability, specifically the impact of domestic violence, mental health issues, drug or alcohol misuse.
* Support parents to implement strategies and develop the necessary skills and resources.
* Facilitate and coordinate parenting groups for families.
* Facilitate access to quality children’s services to assist families to achieve healthy child development.
* Provide on-call services for the program when required.
* Document all client services and maintain accurate and up to date client files,
* Work under general direction with Mission Australia and Head to Health to ensure that program guidelines are adhered to.
Requirements for Success
* Relevant Diploma Qualifications or higher in Community Services, Mental Health, AOD and/or relevant industry experience
* Experience in case management and the delivery of living skills and / or parenting programs.
* Knowledge and understanding of issues facing vulnerable families and their children.
* Current NSW Driver’s License
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
