If so, we want to hear from you!About the RoleThe City of Karratha is seeking a highly motivated Senior Lands Officer to join our Planning Services team.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing Crown land matters, assessing referrals from internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of land use in our city while advocating for the City's interests.What You'll Be Doing:Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including State Government departments, native title holders, community groups, and internal teams.Assessing Crown land proposals and mining tenement applications, preparing reports, and coordinating objections where necessary.Leading the City's response to land referrals, ensuring proposals align with strategic goals and legislative requirements.Representing the City's interests in mining tenement objections, including appearing at the Mining Warden's Court when required.Providing expert advice on land use matters to internal teams, ensuring best practices and compliance.What We're Looking For:Extensive experience in dealing with Crown land processes, mining tenements, and State Government referrals.Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedural frameworks.Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to assess complex land matters.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills to build and maintain effective working relationships.Tertiary qualification in land use planning or a related field.A current C-class driver's licence and a National (or Federal) Police Certificate (no more than six months old).Why Join Us?At the City of Karratha, we offer a dynamic work environment where you can make a tangible impact on the community.
