Qualifications, professional registration, conditions and other requirements
1. To undertake the duties and requirements of this role applicants should hold a relevant trade qualification, trade certificate (or equivalent vocational qualifications) and industry experience in construction, engineering or hospitality.
2. Possession of a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (current version) or equivalent qualification would be highly desirable. Candidates not possessing a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will be required to achieve that qualification within 12 months.
3. Conduct comprehensive induction processes, including Language, Literacy & Numeracy assessments where required, using outcomes to provide Vocational Education and Training guidance and support to meet individual prisoner needs, abilities and goals.
4. Utilise a range of contemporary training and assessment techniques, including reasonable adjustment, to best support prisoners engage in vocational education and training options.
5. Liaise with external Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), and internal stakeholders, to effectively coordinate and deliver nationally recognised vocational training options as per Auspice or other agreements.
6. Conduct fair, flexible, valid and reliable assessments of prisoner competency, provide additional training & support where required to support positive assessment outcomes.
7. Maintain accurate records of prisoner participation and other important information using the Integrated Offender Management System (IOMS), including appropriate physical and electronic storage of prisoner records to ensure compliance, retirival and review.
8. Maintain a quality control system for consulting with, and providing information and feedback, with the leadership team, key internal and external stakeholders and prisoners.
9. Contribute to research and planning/programming, development, implementation and review of subjects/courses.
10. Actively participate in continuous improvement activities including: Research, subject / course review, forward planning and program development, assessment contextualisation.
11. Contribute to end-to-end case management proceses, including participation in multidisciplinary team planning, internal prisoner management processes, to support active engagement in pro-social centre activities, including rehabilitation, employment and release planning.
