What’s the role? The Melbourne Sky News Bureau Chief leads the news coverage and operation of Sky News' Melbourne office. Working as part of the Sky News senior editorial team, you ensure a high standard of news coverage. This roles manages a variety of editorial leadership activities, including breaking news and generating original news content for Sky News broadcast and digital channels. Key Responsibilities Lead the network's coverage in Melbourne and use your judgment and experience for newsgathering, while maintaining journalistic integrity, accuracy, and fairness. Manage staff including rostering and performance processes Lead the generation of unique story ideas for broadcast and digital. Employ your expertise to develop professional contacts with subject-matter experts, government officials, and other important figures to best obtain news information. Handling the administration of a bureau with approx. 11 employees. Must be able to delegate assignments to reporters, studio technicians, and camera operators. Write and cut content for on air use Ensure content meets legal requirements and legal advice is passed on to relevant editorial staff. Ensure editorial staff comply with WHS requirements during breaking news and special coverage. Ensure editorial staff complete and comply with all News Corp and ANC policies. Develop and maintain a relationship with other news networks (Channels 7, 9, ABC, SBS and 10) to ensure coverage of all new stories and press conferences is delivered Who are you?
