The Structural Engineer - Resident Design Engineer will be part of the current DJV (Design Joint Venture (Tractebel/Lombardi/Coffey) REDST (Resident Engineer Design Site Team). They will be based full-time in the Snowy 2.0 project sites office during the construction phase of the Snowy 2.0 hydro project (NSW, Australia) and will be involved in the day-to-day REDST team activities and tasks with respect to Structural Engineering – intake concrete structures, tunnels and shafts concrete lining and other engineering activities i.e. review and approval of as-built drawings, replying to the Client’s RFIs etc. as required.
Job Description
* Maintain the relationship between DJV LOM REDST and FGJV/SHL and provide technical advice on the design and construction as required.
* Provide technical assistance and monitoring during construction of underground and above ground infrastructure, including tunnels and surge shafts.
* Monthly reporting on all activities by the Resident Engineering Design Site Team and back office.
* Review and approve as-built drawings for Infrastructure, Intake structures, and TBM tunnels.
* Perform resident design engineer tasks as a designer representative on-site, including field design changes, back analysis, design verifications, and responding to RFIs (requests for information).
* Attend meetings/workshops with the Client (FGJV) and/or the Employer (SHL) as requested.
* Liaise with SHL and FGJV on all structural aspects regarding surface and underground excavation & support.
* Regular site visits to observe construction works for general conformance with design intent and to resolve issues that may arise during construction.
* Respond to RFIs submitted by the Client and/or the Employer regarding clarification of designs, including non-substantial field changes.
* Support the Client in responding to NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) related to unexpected issues found during execution of the works.
* Provide design services for review of Shop drawings and Manufacturing drawings to verify design intent for design scope completion.
* Verify mark-ups of the IFC design drawings with design change information prepared by the Client.
* Liaise with the DJV REDST Lead and Lombardi back-office design teams regarding design requirements, project technical specifications, design verifications, and other technical-related matters.
Requirements
* At least ten (10) years of industry experience in structural engineering associated with underground infrastructure, mass concrete structures, tunnels, and shaft concrete lining.
* A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Structural Engineering, or equivalent, with preferably professional registration status.
* Familiarity with the structural design of Hydropower infrastructure is preferred.
* Familiarity with advanced structural software and systems (e.g., STAAD, SAP2000, Plaxis2D/3D, or FLAC 2D/3D).
* A valid driving license.
