This position requires 38-40 hours per week, entailing four weekdays and one in three weekends. There is opportunity to perform extra hours if desired. The position requires confidence, initiative and you will need to be adaptable to working in a fast-paced environment. Southern Animal Health (encompassing Melbourne Bulldog Clinic), is a state of the art, purpose built hospital located in the heart of Bayside. Since 2009, Dr Marcus Hayes has offered SAH’s less retail oriented, high level medical and surgical services. The practice has since attracted the highest quality vets and nurses who enjoy working this way.
We offer a low marketing philosophy concentrating on pet health rather than product sales. Our clinic has separate feline and canine waiting and consulting rooms, and provide advanced medical and surgical procedures, pet transport and extended hours seven days a week to keep our clients away from emergency centres.
You need not possess previous experience in the role however, you must have had a minimum of one years customer service experience (in any industry) and live reasonably locally. Driver’s license and car is a must.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
1. Reception duties including handling client enquiries professionally in person, by email and over the phone
2. Booking Appointments and controlling the schedule
3. General administration duties and associated tasks
4. Placing IV catheters
5. Taking bloods
6. Maintaining the overall hygiene of the practice, including surgical areas and equipment
7. Monitoring patients during and after surgery
8. Undertaking general nursing tasks, including pre and post-operative care, animal pathology and emergency and critical care
9. Allocating surgeries to theatres and providing time frames to the surgical team
10. Hospital admission and discharge
11. Administering medications
12. Social Media Management
If you:
13. Possess a minimum 1-2 years customer service experience
14. Have your current driver’s license and vehicle
15. Live locally
16. Are flexible, friendly, dynamic and positive
17. Can work a min of approx. 38 hours per week, one in three weekends & public holidays on rotation
18. Have the ability to work collaboratively with fellow team members and build rapport with clients
19. Have strong communication skills and exceptional customer service
