This part-time position is being offered for 3 days per week and can be based in any of our major offices, including Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.In the role of Health & Safety Officer, we'll count on you to:Create and implement comprehensive HSE Project PlansWork closely with project teams to ensure alignment with HSE Project PlansConduct regular site inspections and HSE audits to monitor compliancePrepare reports to support ongoing HSE effortsProvide advice and recommendations to senior leadership on HSE mattersFoster and promote a strong safety culture across the organisationThis role will involve:Safety Champion & Leadership: Act as the primary advocate for health, wellbeing, and safety, providing expert advice and visible leadership in this area.Safety Management: Oversee health and safety planning, coordinate and deliver health and safety training, review SWMS/safety documentation and support initiatives across a range of sectors and projects.Safety Coordination: Chair the Australian Safety Committee and prepare monthly safety performance reports, support SH&E program implementation, project manage safety initiatives and review incident reporting and investigations.Wellbeing & Psychosocial Safety: Work with the Operational Leadership and Human Resources teams to develop and implement strategies to address psychosocial risks and enhance support services for our teams.Why This Role Is Perfect for You: Flexible Work Schedule: Enjoy the balance of a part-time position with 3 days per week, allowing you to manage your work-life balance effectively.Impactful Leadership: Lead as a visible champion for health, wellbeing, and safety across our projects and teams.Diverse Responsibilities: From coordinating health and safety training to managing psychosocial risk and wellbeing initiatives, no two days will be the same.Global Engagement: Engage with HDR's global safety system and collaborate with international safety coordinators while focusing on local initiatives that make a difference to our people.Supportive Team: Work alongside dedicated professionals who are passionate about making a difference in the field of health and safety.About You: Demonstrated experience in health and safety management, ideally within an architecture and engineering consultancy.Experience working in health and safety management in an office environment and a project/site environment.Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Health & Safety preferred; Tertiary Qualifications are a plus.Knowledge of mental health, psychosocial risk management, and the ability to foster a culture of wellbeing.Excellent communication skills including experience producing high quality reports, training, briefings, articles and other project related documentation for a range of audiences.Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence outcomes.Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative and adaptability.Willingness to travel across HDR's Australian offices.Required Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years technical experience or educational equivalent (minimum of associate degree) in occupational health/safety related fieldExtensive knowledge and application of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPointKnowledge of OSHA & ANSI regulatory standardsAbility to instruct and facilitate Safety, Health and Environmental training coursesTeam-oriented with exceptional written and oral skills in support of company SH&E requirementsAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a mustWhat We Believe:HDR is our company.
