Michael Page are recruiting a WHSE Coordinator for an FMCG/Manufacturing client based in South Sydney (Kingsgrove). You will work as part of the Human Resources team reporting into the HR Manager and dotted line into the CEO. You must have experience in a Work, Health and Safety (WHS) role, ideally within manufacturing environments. Client Details Our client is a prominent firm in the FMCG Manufacturing industry. The role will provide you with the autonomy and freedom to drive changes and improvements across Work, Health, Safety and Environmental matters within the organisation. They are looking to hire someone who can identify solutions and improvements within this space. Description You will provide strategic advice and direction for the Health, Safety & Environmental portfolio. The role of the WHSE Coordinator is not only responsible for compliance, company policies and procedures, and training but also in promoting the culture that supports in the delivery of a safe workplace. Manage and improve the Health, Safety and Environmental foundation and framework systems across the site to reduce risk, raise awareness and improve practices in line with legislation, regulation, codes of practice and industry standards. Maintain and improve the site Risk Profile and Register, lead and conduct risk assessments, develop training and role based training programs to manage identified and emerging risks. You will manage incident investigations including reporting and hazard management. Manage all environmental aspects of the business, including Stormwater management, drain management and shut off valves, Tradewaste management, Emergency / spill response including managing spills, staff training and accurate recording of documentation. You will be responsible to communicate with EPA, Sydney Water, Council, neighbouring businesses and external contractors. You will develop and maintain all documentation, SOP's, reports etc. Maintain and improve Chemical management including storage and handling requirements, risk assessments, staff training, maintaining the manifest and register, training approved personnel to work in restricted areas, issuing of approved PPE, daily safety inspections and ongoing review of processes and procedures. Maintain and approve external contractors on SINE system, collate and save documentation in database, oversee the issuing of work permits, provide staff training where necessary and ongoing review of processes and procedures. Manage, maintain and improve Occupational Health & Hygiene practices of the business; Noise, Dust, Chemicals, Drug and Alcohol, PPE, Ergonomics and Manual Handling. Manage and oversee Injury management including monthly reporting metrics, assist with management of new and existing workers compensation claims and maintain the injury register. Manage the Emergency Response Team including staff training, practice drills, mentoring of staff during emergencies, accurate recording of documentation and ongoing review of processes and procedures. Plan and coordinate safety initiatives including WHS training for new employees, assisting with external and internal site audits, daily safety inspections, review & development of policies & procedures, reports, forms and toolbox talks. Continuous development and maintaining of safety and environmental performance metrics, analyse and regularly report metric outcomes to the Board and Senior Executive Team. Deliver continuous training to staff on safety and environmental policies, procedures and updates to legislation. Deliver advice and support to raise awareness and accountability to the Board and Executive Team to help meet due diligence obligations and support the management team with safety and environmental management as part of the ongoing strategic plan. Profile A successful WHSE Coordinator should have: Proven experience in a WHS, WHSE, (work, health and safety) role Experience within manufacturing, FMCG or similar environments Excellent knowledge of WHSE regulations and best practices.
