About the role
The Staff Specialist is responsible for the clinical and laboratory management of patients within the Haematology Department at Calvary Mater Hospital and NSW Health Pathology. The Staff Specialist will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure appropriate care and discharge strategies. The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing the laboratory, education and training of junior medical staff, research and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provision of after-hours service on a rostered basis.
2. Supervision and training of junior medical staff and nursing staff.
3. Maintenance of clear, precise and accurate medical records including coding for DRGs.
4. Participate in the development and execution of innovative programs in both the delivery of care and clinical training.
5. Create a profile in our Calvary People Platform (if you are not an existing user)
6. Attach a current resume
7. Provide a written response to 4 selection criteria

The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an Affiliated Health Organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area. Current employees of NSW Health can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle on commencement.
