Base Salary HEO 7/8/9 (38 hours), $117,864 p.a. - $167,425 p.a.(pro-rata) + 17% superannuation + generous loading when registered as a specialist to a total package of $221,001 including specialist loading

About the opportunity
We are seeking to appoint a Registrar/Senior Registrar/Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Emergency & Critical Care to join a team of outstanding world-class clinical specialist colleagues at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney. This role does not require previous academic experience but rather a strong clinical background and interest in supporting student development.
You will be responsible for providing best practice veterinary small animal Emergency & Critical Care services at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney (UVTHS) and take an active role in the training of students working in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The position will help to sustain and enhance a caseload and provide services for the purpose of teaching Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and residents in the UVTH-Sydney. You will also assist clinicians in other small animal disciplines with case management and assist in teaching as clinical instructors.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
Provide an effective service for small animal Emergency & Critical Care cases.
Take a leadership role with the training of students and residents.
Provide support for cases from other clinical services within the University Veterinary Teaching Hospitals.
Participate in after-hours on-call roster.
About you

A degree in veterinary science registrable in New South Wales, Australia.
Advanced training in Small Animal Emergency & Critical Care.
Excellent clinical skills.
Experience in teaching and providing clinical instruction.
An ability to work independently and within a team environment.
The ability to show initiative and manage competing deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The commencement level will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience and knowledge.
