The Opportunity:
The Coordinator, Coalfields Healthy Heartbeat is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of health promotion projects associated with improving risk factors for cardiovascular disease, in consultation with local stakeholders and based on local needs of the community of the Cessnock Local Government Area.

Role & Responsibilities:
Identify opportunities to enhance service delivery
Regularly review and update project policies and procedures.
Increase the project’s profile within the community by networking with relevant agencies
Undertake consultations, provide information and liaise with government and non-government agencies, health professionals, schools and community representatives in relation to the development of projects and health promotion issues
Liaise with Samaritans Communications Department to distribute information to relevant media
Implement project tasks as per the agreed project plan and balance the demands of managing multiple tasks within their assigned projects
Support schools to implement a range of health education programs designed to promote healthy eating and physical activity and to prevent chronic disease
Support the development and distribution of evidence-based health education resources
Advocate and promote supportive environments to enable community opportunities for participation in healthy lifestyles
Support the local implementation of the Healthier Oils Initiatives in collaboration with project stakeholders
Coordinate and support the implementation of the Heart Foundation Walking program within the Cessnock LGA
Advocate for the adoption of healthy lifestyle policies and/or programs by relevant organisations
Build partnerships and strengthen links with other services providers and organisations both locally and regionally, to develop local approaches to health promotion and disease prevention
Coordinate the Cessnock Healthy Lifestyle Network and support the activities of the action plan
About you?
Qualifications and experience in health promotion, health education, allied health or other related discipline
Demonstrated project management skills including the development, implementation and evaluation of health promotion projects
Knowledge of current health promotion theory and practices including community development
Demonstrated experience in working in partnership with government and non-government organisations, service providers and community groups to achieve positive health outcomes
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with groups and individuals
Demonstrated ability to work independently and also collaboratively as part of a team
Excellent organisational, time management skills and ability prioritise competing tasks according to a project plan and deadlines
Demonstrated computer literacy skills
NSW Drivers Licence
National Criminal History Check
Working with Children Check
Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
