About the Role:

Family Connect and Support currently has a vacancy for a Program Worker based in our Lismore office. This position is a 4 day a week, fixed-term contract until 30 June 2025, covering the Lismore and surrounds, with the possibility of full-time. Aboriginal people are strongly encouraged to apply.
Family Connect and Support (FCS) is a 16-week early intervention service that works to bring families and young people, support services and community resources together so that children and young people are safe and well. We do this through providing timely information and advice, appropriate warm referrals and practical assistance to families and The Program Worker role will be responsible for providing high quality, strengths based and person-centered intake, assessments and interventions within a case management framework. The ability to be flexible and responsive to the needs of the service and to build positive connections and work collaboratively with key stakeholders are essential to the position.
The role will sit within a highly skilled, supportive and motivated team and will involve travel to other locations and settings across the region. In addition, the role may involve supporting families connect with the right supports within other universal settings i.e. working within schools.
The person we are looking for will be innovative and solution focused, passionate and have great people skills. They will also have a deep understanding of the challenges that face families, children and young people and the ability to achieve positive outcomes for customers within a fast-paced environment. A knowledge of local support services and referral pathways is also necessary for this role.
Desired Skills and Experience :
1. Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in health, education, psychology, social work, social science or social welfare, health promotion or similar
2. Demonstrated experience providing high quality, evidence based, customer-centred, culturally appropriate individual and/or family therapeutic interventions and referrals
3. Demonstrated experience providing short term interventions to meet immediate needs and longer term case coordination or case management where appropriate
4. Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with all people to ensure effective relationships
5. Demonstrated well-developed organisational, time management and administrative skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines
6. Demonstrated experience in maintaining professional boundaries while engaging in person-centred work
7. Ability to identify and respond appropriately to child protection and other high risk or vulnerability concerns
