ACS includes the Mental Health Inpatient Unit (MHIU) and the Acute Care Team (ACT) and improves the mental health outcomes of people with severe mental illness, who have become acutely unwell. ACT and the Inpatient Unit focus on the individual in an acute phase of their mental illness. Teams such as the Crisis Support Space (CSS) and Step Up Step Down (SUSD) are focused on hospital and Emergency Department avoidance, as well as ongoing recovery focused care.About Our Hospital And Health ServiceMackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff.
