Senior Mental Health Clinician, Youth Early Psychosis Service (YEPS), Austin Health ICYMHS Open to: Grade 3 Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Social Worker, Speech Pathologist, or Grade 4 Registered Psychiatric Nurses Fixed Term, full time 38 hours per week (with ADO every 4 weeks) (end May 9th, 2025) About YEPS YEPS is a specialty programme of the Infant, Child, and Youth Mental Health Service (ICYMHS). YEPS is a multi-disciplinary team that provides early intervention and treatment to young people aged 16-25 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis and live in the Banyule and Nillumbik local government areas. YEPS clinicians provide evidence-based, phase-specific treatment for young consumers and support to their families or carers, and utilise the Austin Health Early Psychosis Treatment Guidelines. The service operates within business hours. Currently the team office is in Heidelberg. Travel will be expected between campuses as required and in an outreach capacity for the purposes of fulfilling the needs of the allocated caseload. About the role The Senior Mental Health Clinician position is primarily a community case manager role, providing an intensive outreach mental health service to young people experiencing a first episode of psychosis. As a community case manager, it is expected that you will work closely with the YEPS multidisciplinary team, under the direction of the Program Manager, Team Leader, and the Consultant Psychiatrist, and with additional support from the relevant discipline senior to provide holistic and recovery-orientated case management to young people accessing the service. Treatments offered include medication, psychotherapy, family work, alcohol and other drug support, and vocational support. The team work collaboratively in practice and draw on a strong understanding of systems approaches and frameworks to complex care and case management. Outreach and engaging young people within their community is a key aspect of the role. A regular day will see you: Deliver high quality care for a small clinical caseload, as well as consultation and liaison with organisations Provide direct service in the clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of young people and families utilising individual outreach approaches, selected treatment modalities suitable for engaging young people in their recovery, which may include mental health promotion and other professional development/capacity building activities Complete a high standard of accurate and timely clinical and operational documentation and data entry in a timely and efficient manner, and in accordance with ICYMHS standards of documentation and relevant professional/mental health sector statutory requirements About you You will be someone with excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills, who takes a supportive team approach to their work. You will have strong organisational and time management skills, as shown by a dynamic and flexible approach to time and caseload management.
