Director, Governance and Performance, City of Port Phillip The City of Port Phillip is a uniquely vibrant and creative inner-city council with a spectacular, enviable foreshore, and the Fisherman's Bend urban renewal area. A highly talented and dedicated workforce of 1000 staff delivers more than 100 programs and services to residents, businesses, and visitors, working to deliver on an ambitious Council Plan that is shaped by a desire to celebrate our history, protect our character, and encourage inclusion and creativity, while planning for the future of a dynamic and evolving City. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director will lead five direct reports and an overall team of approximately 35. The position provides strategic leadership to Council's governance, organisational strategy and performance, community engagement, risk and assurance, enterprise portfolio management, and Councillor and executive services functions, as well as contributing more broadly to the strategic leadership of the organisation and curation of a positive and high performing organisational culture. The primary objective of this role is to ensure the highest standards of governance and organisational performance are achieved and demonstrated at the City of Port Phillip through the provision of clear strategic direction, excellent advice and guidance, rigorous performance monitoring and reporting, and high-quality service delivery. This division has a critical role in ensuring Council meets its compliance and legislative obligations, particularly with respect to the Local Government Act 2020. We are seeking applications from established, respected leaders who bring senior management or Executive level experience in areas relevant to this portfolio, gained in the Local Government sector or a similar multifaceted, complex regulatory environment. Relevant tertiary qualifications will be expected, with post graduate qualifications in management or business highly regarded, as well as membership of relevant professional associations. A highly developed political awareness will be of critical importance, as will outstanding relationship management and communication skills and high levels of energy, integrity, and resilience. As an experienced, collaborative, and engaging leader with a transformational leadership style, you will work closely with the CEO and other Executives to deliver the Council's Vision, Plans and Values. You will bring significant commercial acumen, excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and persuasion skills and a proven ability to maximise the organisational and community benefit derived from financial and other resources. #J-18808-Ljbffr
