About Your New Role:

Understanding the community's changing landscape is vital for effectively planning and delivering services that meet the evolving needs of all who call Charles Sturt home. As a Civil Construction and Footpath Maintenance Team Member, you will be involved in a variety of civil construction activities, including operating plant equipment, truck driving, general labouring, and assisting with road and footpath maintenance projects. Your role will require flexibility and a strong commitment to safety while delivering quality outcomes for the local community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Follow all Work Health and Safety legislation, policies, and procedures.
* Actively identify and report hazards, taking action to mitigate risks when possible.
* Undertake various tasks such as road construction, drainage works, brick paving, excavation, and concrete/bitumen works.
* Operate plant and equipment as required for civil construction and maintenance.
* Maintain accurate records including time sheets, daily work forms, delivery dockets, contractor paperwork, and Traffic Management Plans.
* Communicate effectively with the public, customers, and service providers in a polite and professional manner.
What You'll Need:
* Effective communication skills & proficiency in reading plans and basic surveying.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to operate plant equipment, including handheld tools for construction tasks.
* Demonstrated knowledge and enthusiasm for the direction of the council.
* Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.
* Understanding of the Work Health and Safety Act and related responsibilities.
* Knowledge of civil construction and maintenance principles and techniques.
Qualifications:
- MR Truck Driving Licence (Essential).
- White Card Accredited (Essential).
Plus one of the following certifications:
- Work Zone Traffic Management Certificate
- LL Skid Steer Licence
- LE Excavator Licence
- LB Backhoe Licence
- Confined Space Certificate
- Working at Heights Certificate
