Job Responsibilities
Your key duties will include:
* Performing maintenance tasks as requested to ensure smooth hotel operations.
* Planning and executing preventive maintenance throughout the hotel to maintain guest comfort standards.
* Carrying out general repairs and maintenance to the property.
* Complying with relevant state/federal legislative and company policy/compliance obligations in your department.
* Supporting the testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting, etc., on a routine basis as required by local Council and Fire Service.
* Liaising with contractors within the hotel to ensure their work meets company and manufacturer specifications.
* Coordinating, implementing, and minimizing energy and/or water conservation or waste costs.
* Maintaining adequate working stock and materials in the workshop and keeping it neat and tidy.
* Auditing and maintaining all workshop tools and equipment to ensure sufficient trade and function running.
* Maintaining external hotel areas according to company brand standards.
* Ensuring gym equipment remains safe and functional according to manufacturer specifications.
* Carrying out other requests from the Chief Engineer and/or their designate.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate should possess:
* 2-5 years of experience as a Handyperson or similar role in a hospitality environment.
* Additional experience in preventive maintenance, minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc., is beneficial.
* Trade qualification is preferred.
* Pool Operator qualification is an advantage.
* Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite, Opera, or similar PMS.
* BMS experience is regarded highly.
* Physical fitness and capability for a physically demanding role (standing, walking, carrying).
* Service-oriented mindset with attention to detail.
* Multicultural awareness and ability to work with diverse cultures.
* Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative in a dynamic environment.
* Strong focus and passion for hotel operations.
* Confident and articulate communication, negotiation, relationship, and networking skills.
* Excellent time management skills with multitasking abilities.
* Strong personal integrity.
* Entrepreneurial spirit with drive, ambition, and high energy levels.
* Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with team members at all levels.
