About The RoleThe Invest SA group attracts and connects local and international investors, industry, and research partners with South Australian investment opportunities and networks to support South Australia's key economic growth sectors.
As the Business Development Manager, Defence, you will create and execute strategies and activity to achieve investment and trade outcomes for South Australia. Your focus will be on South Australia's defence sectors, supporting the Director Defence and Space.
You will provide authoritative advice and high-level analysis of economies, industries and companies in the defence sectors to find significant investment and export opportunities for South Australia and contribute to the formulation and implementation of strategies for targeted investor engagement and promotion of the state as an investment location.
More Specifically, You Will Develop, structure and close off high quality and high value deals.Coordinate across government projects in partnership with other government representatives to promote the state globally and deliver investment initiatives for South Australia.Undertake market research and gap analysis to identify and provide expert advice on areas of competitive strength, growth potential, investment and export opportunities for South Australia.Conduct research into specific geographical markets and countries to determine growth opportunities and provide high level complex reports and briefings for the Chief Executive and Minister's Office as required.Utilise existing and develop new networks of strategic alliances with key stakeholders/investors across government and industry.Effectively use a customer relationship management database to maintain and improve existing business relationships and track project status.Key CompetenciesTo succeed in this role, you will be able to demonstrate experience in, or extensive knowledge of:
The defence sector, investment opportunities & issues, State Government priorities and relevant policies with regards to defence.Key national and international trends and influences that affect the State's economy, investment, labour market and business growth.Shaping strategic thinking and providing strategic advice, including demonstrated use of high-level analytical and problem-solving skills.Preparing briefings and research reports for senior management and an understanding of the development of Parliamentary Briefing Notes and Ministerial Briefings.You Will Also Have Strong entrepreneurial drive.Skills to develop, structure and close a deal; proactively create and pursue opportunities.A high standard of written and oral communication geared towards reporting.The demonstrated ability to recognise and manage commercially and politically sensitive matters discretely.A flexible approach to work under both broad direction and specific tasking.RemunerationCompetitive salary will be offered as $121,107 to $125,679pa plus superannuation.
