Summary:We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Oncology Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will provide specialised care to patients undergoing cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and supportive care. The Oncology Nurse will work closely with oncologists, healthcare professionals, and patients to ensure comprehensive and empathetic care throughout the cancer journey.Responsibilities:Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other cancer treatments as prescribed, including monitoring for adverse reactions.Assess and monitor patients' responses to cancer treatments and adjust care plans as needed.Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding cancer treatments, side effects, and symptom management.Assist with the management of cancer-related symptoms, such as pain, nausea, and fatigue.Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and optimise patient care.Perform diagnostic tests, including blood draws and lab work, and interpret results in the context of cancer care.Provide emotional support and counselling to patients and families coping with a cancer diagnosis and treatment.Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including treatment plans, patient histories, and progress notes.Ensure compliance with established protocols, guidelines, and regulatory standards for cancer care.Participate in patient care conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss treatment strategies and patient progress.Stay current with advancements in oncology nursing practices and participate in continuing education and professional development activities.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BN) or equivalent.Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.Proven experience in oncology nursing or a related field.Strong knowledge of oncology treatments, symptom management, and cancer care principles.Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.Commitment to providing patient-centred care and supporting patients and families through their cancer journey.
