Established in 2024, ACAMI is a collaborative research, clinical research and workforce development centre operating at the intersection of AI and medical innovation. The centre will support local medical research institutes and industry partners, delivering new and additional capabilities to ensure Victoria’s world-leading medical innovation and life sciences research ecosystem maintains pace with global standards and opportunities as AI capability develops.The Senior Manager, Development, will work with the ACAMI Director, Development, Director and Chief Scientist, the ACAMI team, internal and external stakeholders to realise ACAMI’s mission of becoming a commercially sustainable centre which leverages AI technologies, data and skills innovation to drive transformation and growth of an AI-enabled medical ecosystem in Victoria.ResponsibilitiesWork with the Director, Development and the ACAMI team to operationalise the Centre’s purpose and objectives within the University’s academic, research and management governance frameworks and maintaining compliance with the University’s policy and procedures.Work with Director, Development in implementing and maintaining the business case and strategic plans for the Centre including the strategic goals, defining priorities, and outlining action plans.Participate in activities to achieve the Centre’s commercial goals and develop plans to attract revenue from industry to establish a sustainable operating position.Support the Centre in establishing and building high functioning teams who work towards a shared vision, clear goals and targets and developing a culture of excellence, innovation and collaboration across professional teams in the Centre, La Trobe partners and external stakeholders.Develop a strong working relationship with existing and emerging industry stakeholders to understand sector needs and opportunities and recognise shared agendas and work toward mutually beneficial outcomes. Anticipate and be responsive to internal and external client needs.Skills & ExperienceKnowledge, skills and direct relevant experience in project management, computer science and AI in the Australian University sector or in industry. Experience with the application of AI in medical research, medical therapies manufacture and/or business units highly regarded.Understanding in medical research, medical technologies, clinical research, medical innovation, commercialisation, broad spectrum of research, workforce and future directions within the medical technology sector.Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for achievement of objectives and programs at School and/or commercial-equivalent level.Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in liaising with staff at all levels of an organisation, negotiating effective outcomes, consultation and facilitation of group discussions.Proven ability to deal with concepts, decisions and complex information or situations in an efficient and effective manner.
