Our client is a private medium sized engineering firm, specialising in civil and structural design and project management across the Darling Downs & Maranoa. With a wide range of projects in the pipeline, across local government, state government (Transport & Main Roads), energy/gas, and private sectors, this leading firm offers a mix of office and site-based work. The firm also offers services across structural & geotechnical engineering, environmental management, and asset management. Founded in the 1950's, our client is one of Queensland's largest regionally based Consulting Engineering firms, with offices and team members in Chinchilla, Roma, Tara, Miles and Toowoomba. What will my role include? Responsibilities Working predominantly in the civil design arm of the business, you will be involved in all aspects of the projects and project management. Reporting to the Principal Civil Engineer daily and Company Directors occasionally, you will work alongside the internal Civil Design team and Engineers. Your key responsibilities will include: Project management of civil designs and provide technical input to the design; Undertake analysis and preparation of technical reports for various aspects of projects including stormwater management, pavement and surfacing; Undertaking inspections of works in progress to verify compliance against design; Administration of construction contracts; Liaising and coordination with colleagues, clients, subconsultants and contractors; Mentoring less experienced staff; Scoping of projects and preparation of fee proposals; Communicate across all levels and interpret client needs. Who are we looking for? Required The successful candidate will have extensive Australian experience in a relevant civil engineering area. This experience will also be backed by a Civil Engineering degree that is recognised by Engineers Australia. Registration as a Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or eligibility for registration is not required, however will be highly regarded. You will also have: A demonstrated knowledge of theory and practices of planning and design of road systems, hydraulics and hydrology for stormwater design, and sewerage and water reticulation; Detailed knowledge of Austroads design requirements for geometric design of rural and urban roads; Detailed knowledge of Austroads and DTMR requirements for pavement and surfacing design; Thorough knowledge of QUDM and hydrological assessment of rural and urban environments; Experience with DRAINS, CIRCLY, WaterCad software packages will be highly regarded; Demonstrated experience in the management of construction projects and ability to convey practical knowledge to design team; Experience with administration of civil construction projects; High degree of organisation and time management skills; Excellent verbal communication skills and demonstrated written communication skills (fluent and structured reports); Demonstrated experience in liaising with team members, senior staff, utility authorities, government departments, contractors and clients; Minimum 10 years relevant experience (minimum 5 years relevant Australian experience). You will be required to hold a valid unrestricted driver's license and Construction White Card, as some travel to job sites (using company pool vehicles) will be required occasionally.
