Role
This role itself is broad and will provide substantial responsibility and opportunity. You will work closely with the General Counsel (ex top-tier) in a small team. You will have plenty of interaction with GMs and Corporate Managers throughout the business. You will assist with the legal function and become involved in significant legal matters for the business, including general commercial, corporate/mergers & acquisitions, property/leasing, projects, litigation, and insurance. You must have an understanding of the due diligence process, as well as experience in significant contracts, risk mitigation, and compliance. A good drafter with negotiation skills is required. You should be able to manage processes and be a good people person – have high EQ.
Skills/Experience
To take on this position, you will be at least 4 years PQE and up to about 9 PQE, and be a front-end commercial lawyer. Training in a well-regarded firm or in-house will be important, and the ability to get on well with people from a range of backgrounds will assist in your success. You should be commercially-minded rather than just a black-letter lawyer.
