The clinician will work within the adult acute services team to ensure that consumers and their families receive a respectful, culturally responsive, and appropriate service. The clinician will provide clinical support and interventions to the consumer and the family, assisting with accessing other services relevant to their needs. The clinician will assist in the planning and implementation of any admission, treatment, case management, referral, discharge, and follow-up for Aboriginal people utilizing mental health services. This is a non-clinical role in the clinical environment, and the clinician will also undertake cultural education and development for all staff and students. You will be based at Mental Health Drug & Alcohol Services (MHDA) – Bloomfield Campus adult acute services. Amaroo is a 20 bed acute unit for short to medium-term treatment and recovery for people experiencing mental health illnesses, working within a framework of human-centered care that includes recovery-oriented practices, trauma-informed care, and recognizing individual rights and responsibilities. Adult Acute is a 16-bed unit for treatment and recovery for people with a mental illness, also adhering to human-centered care principles. Mental Health Intensive Care Unit (MHICU) is an 8 bed unit providing multidisciplinary assessment for adults requiring involuntary short-term inpatient treatment during an acute phase of mental illness or disorder.
