Position Overview
HNELHD - Visiting Medical Officer in General Medicine, Armidale Rural Referral Hospital
Armidale Rural Referral Hospital is seeking the services of a Staff Specialist General Medicine to join their team of 5 highly experienced consultants. The hospital provides a broad range of specialist services to both Armidale and the wider New England district. It has a new clinical services building with extensive refurbishment of existing facilities and has a 99-bed capacity.
The hospital has a position available as either a VMO or a Staff Specialist General Physician. An interest in one of the subspecialties of Rheumatology, Neurology, Respiratory or Haematology would be desirable, but it is not essential. Registrars who are considering a role post Fellowship are encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will share an on-call role, as well as outpatient consulting, teaching, and the opportunity for an appointment to the University of New England. Adult Medical services include respiratory, cardiac, chemotherapy, renal, and palliative care. Key Responsibilities
Mandatory requirements of this role include:
* Admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient, telehealth, and on-call services as determined and required by HNELHD.
* Attendance and availability during rostered work hours and while on-call, including clinical handover, clinical supervision, teaching, and emergency and routine care as determined and required by HNELHD.
* Provision of education and research as determined and required by HNELHD.
Minimum Requirements
A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
Evidence of being a medical expert, demonstrated by recent and comprehensive experience in General Medicine with subspecialty interest in:
Respiratory, Rheumatology, Renal, and Haematology
* Evidence of being a scholar, maintaining medical professional development and assisting other staff, including trainees, in the acquisition and development of knowledge.
* Evidence of being a skilled communicator, including both oral and written skills, communicating with patients, students, other health professionals, and the public.
* Evidence of being a collaborator, including the ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework and to work with other stakeholders in a variety of settings.
* Evidence of being a manager, including the ability to be flexible and cope with a changing health system, past leadership and management experience, and previous safety and quality improvement activities.
* Evidence of being a professional, including continued professional development, peer review, and other forms of clinical governance.
* Evidence of being an advocate, including contributions to improving individual and societal health.
