About the opportunity
The position which will deliver teaching and coordinate units encompassing biomedical disciplines within the Bachelor Biomedicine and Bachelor of Medical Science & Doctor of Medicine courses as directed by the Head of School.
The successful candidate will have the knowledge, skills, and willingness to embrace contemporary approaches to teaching and technology to develop and enhance high quality online and face-to-face teaching, particularly in an applied teaching context.
The position requires research and scholarship aligned with the strategic research priorities of the School and College, bringing bioscience expertise to the areas of brain science, mental health, genomics, preventative health or chronic disease management. The successful applicant will be encouraged and supported to develop an independent research profile.
What you’ll do:
Make an effective (level B) or a strong (level C) and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities through the College of Health and Medicine
Undertake contemporary scholarly teaching in undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs.
Demonstrate a scholarly approach to teaching and curriculum development, aligning with the course and University’s quality framework and delivery standards.
Increasingly provide academic leadership, particularly in fostering outstanding research and/or learning and teaching (level C).
Undertake high-quality research of national and increasingly of international standing, secure external competitive and other funding, publish research findings and contribute to the successful supervision of research higher degree students.
What we’re looking for:
A PhD or equivalent in discipline relevant to biomedical science
Proven capabilities in higher education learning and teaching with experience in online and on-campus delivery modes and development of high-quality course materials that promote student learning in bioscience disciplines
Demonstrated ability (Level B) or proven capability (Level C) to undertake unit coordination roles, contribute to development and design of curriculum, and promote academic integrity through innovative assessment design.
A good (Level B) or strong record (Level C) in, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved national and preferably international recognition and made notable contributions to the field of biomedical science as demonstrated by a record of high-quality publications, presentations at conferences, and success in securing external competitive and other funding.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds.
In addition to the above, to be successful for level C appointment you will have:
Demonstrated ability to manage academic program teams, supporting scholarly development of less experienced academic staff.
A record of contributing effectively to building and maintaining productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, industry (where relevant) and wider community
Extensive experience in supervising higher degree by research candidates
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B or Academic C depending on the qualification and experience and will have a total remuneration package of up to $178,024 comprising base salary within the range of $110,992 to $152,157plus 17% superannuation.
