We are a vibrant program located within the YMCA Springfield Lakes Community Centre, dedicated to supporting older adults aged 60 and over, along with First Nations peoples aged 50 and over. Our mission is to empower older Queenslanders to feel more connected, supported, and actively engaged through flexible, person-centered programs and services.
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate individual with a genuine interest in working with older adults to join our team as an Ipswich Thriving Seniors Program Officer on Fixed-Term Full Time basis based in Springfield, QLD.
As a Thriving Seniors Program Officer you will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to connect effectively with diverse groups within the community. Experience in community development, program management, or a related field is a plus. Most importantly, the candidate should demonstrate a commitment to promoting inclusivity and celebrating the valuable contributions of seniors in our community.
What my time will look like?
* Develop and implement community programs, events, and services tailored to the needs of older adults across the Ipswich region
* Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, collecting feedback for continuous improvement
* Foster connections among seniors and facilitate opportunities for engagement and support.
* Collaborate with local organizations and stakeholders to build age-friendly initiatives.
* Create and execute social media campaigns to promote programs, events and initiatives.
* Provide information, referrals and resources that enhance the well-being of older adults in the community.
* Advocate for the rights and needs of older community members, celebrating their contributions.
* Recruiting and supervision of the volunteers
Am I a good match?
* Diploma Qualification in a related field and experience in community development, program management, or a related field is a plus
* High Level of communication skills
* Experience in Program development
* Demonstrated ability to enter data accurately and completely into systems and files
* Willingness and available to work flexible hours as determined by business requirements
* First Aid and CPR qualification or willingness to obtain
* Current Blue card or willingness to obtain
* Current Open Queensland Driver’s Licence and vehicle
