CPL – Choice, Passion, Life - is one of the largest providers of integrated disability support in Queensland and Northern New South Wales. CPL works with almost 10,000 people each year, which includes Disability Employment Services, and delivers over 2 million hours of support to people with disability and their families.
CPL has locations across Queensland (South East Queensland, Bundaberg, Fraser Coast, Gladstone, Rockhampton, North and Far North Queensland) and Northern NSW including Ballina & Northern Rivers and Tweed.
CPL provides disability services incorporating home support, employment services, getting into your community, creative, recreational and life skills activities, home and living. CPL also provides aged care services incorporating home support, social and community outings, and clinical and specialised support.
CPL is a not-for-profit entity, a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).
CPL's revenue at 30 June 2024 was $222M with approximately 95% from Government.
The positions
CPL is governed by a board of non-executive directors and is currently comprised of six non-executive directors, including the non-executive chair.
Many of CPL's directors have or have had relatives with disabilities or have in some way a strong personal connection with CPL.
The board is seeking to undertake a process of board renewal during the first half of 2025 and is seeking to appoint two new non-executive directors by May 2025.
Key selection criteria
The board is seeking to recruit two non-executive directors with skills, knowledge, and experience in one or more of the following:
1. Clinical governance quality & safety oversight, including knowledge of clinical governance frameworks, best practices for safeguarding vulnerable people, and quality and risk management. Experience in healthcare, allied health or disability service delivery would be viewed favourably.
2. Direct lived experience of disability (self or as a carer, advocate, or close family member), ensuring authentic representation of people with disability. The ability to advocate for inclusion, accessibility and person-centred care at a governance level.
3. Strategic thinking, leadership and business acumen, including the ability to contribute to the development and oversight of long-term strategic plans in a dynamic and evolving disability sector.
One of the roles could be a development opportunity for an experienced clinical governance professional or executive considering their first non-executive director position.
Graduates of the Australian Institute of Company Directors' Course (or equivalent) will be highly regarded.
The board is seeking directors based in the CPL footprint from Ballina in northern NSW and throughout Queensland.
