Job Title: Community Education Counsellor (Identified)
About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our team as a Community Education Counsellor (Identified) in the Metropolitan South Region.
The ideal applicants will be committed to providing support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and students within a school community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide educational counselling and support services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and students across several schools.
* Participate in the development of activities, in and out of school, to enhance the involvement in education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families.
* Develop and undertake support service programs designed to meet the needs of the school/s that will encourage the educational participation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and students.
* Provide advice and information to school administrators regarding Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander social and cultural protocols.
Mandatory Requirements for Identified Roles:
It is a genuine occupational requirement for Identified roles that the position be filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person.
Verification of Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Island heritage may be required for administrative purposes.
Requirements:
* Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent or accepted by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
* Current Working with Children Clearance (blue card).
