The Position
We are on the look-out for a 12 Month Full-Time General Physician for a vacancy in Northern Territory.
You will provide consultant level management of inpatients admitted under a General Medical Unit within this Northern Territory Hospital. This will encompass the assessment of acute general medical inpatients, appropriate investigation and formulation of a management plan. High level of leadership skills will be required to manage a large team of junior staff in a busy unit. An exceptional understanding of complex discharge planning and willingness to engage ambulatory care services to ensure timely discharges will be required in our challenging environment.
Health Service
You will be working within a large General Medicine department, servicing approx. 100 inpatients/day, outpatient clinics and a remote outreach service. This position will encompass working across all aspects of service delivery to facilitate a varied and balanced workload as negotiated with a successful applicant. The position is ideal for candidates with fellowship in General and Acute Care Medicine however, consideration will also be given to applicants with a strong background in General Medicine who hold fellowship in a different specialty. Engagement with cultural orientation is essential for any interested applicant as well as the ability to work well in a team and engage patients of the diverse multicultural background of the Top End of the Northern Territory.

Essential Criteria
Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Specialist registration with Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in General and Acute Care Medicine. Consideration will be given to applicants with fellowship in another specialty if they can demonstrate proven equivalent skills and experience in General Medicine.
Highly developed patient assessment, investigation, interpretation, and management skills to provide appropriate high quality care.
Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact positively in a cross-cultural work environment, as a team member.
Detailed knowledge of community care services to facilitate safe transition to home after discharge.
An interest in and a commitment to improving Aboriginal health.

Staff Specialist Clinician SMO1.1 - SMO1.6 - Remuneration Package $241,521 - $295,159 (including salary $207,165 - $253,495)
Senior Staff Specialist Clinician SMO2.1 - SMO2.3 - Remuneration Package $305,200 - $337,429 (including salary $262,168 - $290,005)
