Environment Protection Authority Job reference: 631268 Location: 5000 - ADELAIDE Job status: Ongoing Eligibility: Open to Everyone About the Role The Principal Scientific Officer (Air Quality) is accountable to the Manager Air, Noise and Radiation Science for providing effective leadership with a focus on achieving EPA strategic goals and priorities for air quality within South Australia and at a national level. The role leads a team of professional scientists/engineers to maintain high quality research and clear, accurate, and scientifically valid reports, plans and publications to support the development of guidelines and regulatory documents. The Principal Scientific Officer (Air Quality) is responsible for the interpretation of more complex environmental data, initiating reviews, developing integrated air science tools, and managing projects and is responsible for the provision of specialist advisory and scientific services and programs for air quality and related environmental issues. About Us The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is South Australia’s independent environment protection regulator. The organisation works to protect, restore and improve the environment through the risk-based regulation of pollution, waste, noise and radiation. The EPA works closely with industry, the community and government to protect the unique natural environment while supporting economic growth and improving wellbeing. The EPA is responsible for the administration of the Environment Protection Act 1993 (EP Act) and the Radiation Protection and Control Act 2021 (RPC Act) and also exercises responsibilities under other South Australian planning and environmental legislation. Essential Qualifications Degree in chemical engineering, science, or environmental science with strong background in chemistry and industrial processes. Remuneration PO4 ($110,696 to $120,470) + 11.5% superannuation paid to your choice of super fund.
