District Director of Nursing and Midwifery
This is for a Permanent Fulltime appointment at 76 hours per fortnight.
An opportunity exists for a talented and enthusiastic District Director of Nursing and Midwifery to join the team at Newman Health Campus – Pilbara.

* Demonstrated record of achievement in leadership and organisational development at a senior nursing management level within a complex, dynamic health service environment.
* Contemporary knowledge of professional issues and trends, with a particular focus on rural and remote service delivery and health reform.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and ability to cultivate teamwork.
* Analytical, financial, strategic management and project management skills.
* Experience in the application of continuous quality improvement principles including managing change and the implementation and evaluation of integrated clinical governance strategies.
* Current knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements in the areas of Equal Opportunity, Disability Services and Occupational Safety & Health, and how these impact on employment, people management and service delivery.
Position Profile:
Responsible for the day-to-day leadership, development and management of clinical and non-clinical services in the Inland Pilbara (district) in partnership with staff and other government and non-government healthcare providers. Receives professional guidance from the Regional Director Nursing and Midwifery.

Area Profile:
The Pilbara is WA’s second most northern region, defined by the Indian Ocean to the west and the Northern Territory border to the east. The Kimberley Region lies to its north across the Great Sandy Desert and the Pilbara’s southern reaches border the Midwest and Goldfields regions. The region covers a total area of 507,896 sq km (including offshore islands). Most of the inhabitants are in the western third, whereas the eastern third is largely desert with few inhabitants. Today the Pilbara economy is crucial to the State, providing 2 of the State’s largest export revenue earners – iron ore and liquefied natural gas.
Eligibility to Apply: To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments).
