About the Opportunity:
We're seeking a Project Engineer to join our team due to significant growth in Cairns and Far North Queensland.
You will play a critical role in delivering a new highways project for the region.
About the Role:
You will work closely with the Senior Project Engineer & Project Manager to coordinate on-site engineering functions, achieving time and budget objectives, and providing efficient support for construction activities.
* Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs, and specifications.
* Assist with preparing site construction budgets and reports.
* Monitor construction progress for adherence to program and report to the Project Manager.
* Interpret designs for implementation in construction projects.
* Demonstrate financial management skills and commercial acumen when making decisions.
* Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards.
* Execute working knowledge of contractual and legislation relevant to the project.
* Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment, and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes.
* Analyze and use document and record management, progress, and project performance reporting compliance reporting.
* Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
* Utilize effective time management skills including sequencing of work of own and resource time management.
* Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting, and procedure.
To be successful in this role, you will have;
* A bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
* Previous experience working on highways projects in Queensland advantageous.
* 3-5+ years' postgraduate experience, ideally in a tier one contractor setting.
* Leadership ability to provide mentorship to direct reports.
* Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning and reporting on progress, cost, and risk.
* Demonstrated personal commitment to health and safety.
