Job Description:
As a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) Auxiliary Firefighter, you will be part of a team that delivers high quality fire, rescue, emergency and disaster management services across Queensland.
The role is unique in Australia, combining fire and rescue services with state emergency services to ensure community safety.
Key Accountabilities:
* Respond to fire and emergency incidents as a member of a team
* Promote community safety and emergency preparedness through education activities
* Develop and maintain competencies through regular drills and training courses
* Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment safely and effectively
Capabilities:
You will be assessed on leadership and management behavioural competencies, including performance through vision, results and accountability. You will also be expected to exemplify QFES shared values: respect, integrity, trust, courage and loyalty.
Requirements:
* Australian Permanent Resident Status
* Manual C Class driver's licence
* Live or work within a reasonable distance of auxiliary fire station
* Employer's written consent to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable)
Working Conditions:
As an auxiliary firefighter, you will commit to attending 50% of emergency incident calls as a day worker, or 30% as a shift worker or with non-routine hours. You will also participate in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs.
