Summary:
The social worker in community services and development industry provides support and assistance to vulnerable individuals, families, and communities. They collaborate with individuals, families, and community organisations to identify and address social, emotional, and economic issues that affect the quality of life within the community.
Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with individuals, families, and community organisations to develop and implement effective solutions to social problems.
* Assess the needs of individuals, families, and communities to determine appropriate interventions and resources required.
* Provide counselling, support, and advocacy to individuals and families in crisis.
* Develop and deliver community education and outreach programs.
* Work with government agencies, community organisations, and funding sources to secure financial support for programs and services.
* Conduct research and evaluate programs and services to assess their effectiveness.
* Maintain accurate case notes, client files, and program statistics.
* Attend meetings, training seminars, and workshops to maintain professional development.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work or a closely related field.
* Professional license or certificate in social work.
* Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
* Knowledge of social welfare and community development policies and practices.
* Strong organisational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience working in a community-based, nonprofit organisation.
