Operating from a network of stores, trade centres, frame and truss sites, and online, Bunnings caters for consumer and commercial customers.By joining our passionate and diverse team, you will have the opportunity to grow, develop, have fun, and make a positive difference – to our customers and the communities where we live and work.About the role:We are currently looking for a Victorian State Timber Buyer to join our Buying team at Bunnings.Our buyers create and deliver market-leading ranges to our stores that inspire customers and help them improve and enjoy living in their homes and communities. They also contribute to the strengthening of the Bunnings in-store and online offer, consistent with the business strategies, objectives, and financial targets. In addition, they will also build and develop supply sources and supplier relationships to ensure consistent supply and ongoing innovation.What’s involved:Management of the end-to-end buying process, from supplier to store layout and everything in between – the full lifecycle.You will set the merchandise range for a designated department within the strategies and brand architecture of the category.You will need to follow market trends and continually seek out opportunities to drive innovation, lower costs, and deliver value to customers.You’ll be responsible for the development of annual business plans outlining product, pricing, and marketing strategies consistent with the broader category and business objectives.Negotiate product prices, volumes, and terms with suppliers.Understand the competitive landscape both locally and globally for the designated category departments.Regularly visit, check, and assess competitor product assortments and pricing to identify opportunities.Ensure that department and product-specific promotional programs are developed and implemented to support buying plans.Provide support to trainee buyers and buyers' assistants.Who we’re looking for:You will have a wealth of knowledge in timber buying ideally; however, sales or account management for a timber supplier would also be advantageous. You will be excited to add value to the team and the business. You will be prepared to execute the state buying strategy with precision.You’ll need:Degree or Diploma in Marketing/Commerce area an advantage.Timber buying experience preferred; timber supplier sales experience considered.Strong business acumen & knowledge/understanding of the market & competitive landscape.Proven leadership capability in coaching, mentoring, and developing teams.Be an experienced negotiator, with the ability to manage high-pressure situations.Be a strong communicator with an entrepreneurial flair.We’re here to support you.Bunnings strives to ensure everyone is treated fairly, and our team is committed to supporting you at any stage of your recruitment journey.
