Your next career opportunity The Senior Laboratory Technician supports research and teaching by providing technical expertise within the Chemical, Materials, and Manufacturing Cluster.
Working across diverse laboratory environments, the role ensures the smooth operation of research and academic activities while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Collaboration with researchers, students, and staff across multiple disciplines is key to facilitating innovative experiments and technical advancements.
Your responsibilities will include: Be the go-to resource in the field of speciality to deliver technical and expert services and support to teaching and research activities.
Instruct, advise and support staff and students on the use of specialist laboratory equipment and online management systems, including demonstrations, to ensure equipment is used effectively.
Manage laboratory inventory and procurement of general laboratory consumables to support teaching and research activities.
Maintain laboratory documentation to keep accurate records of teaching and research activities.
You may be a great fit if: The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
They will be highly organised, able to prioritise tasks effectively, and demonstrate a strong customer service mindset while maintaining high scientific and ethical standards.

You will also have: A relevant degree and/or trade, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and educational training supporting teaching and research facilities in higher education and/or industry R&D sector specific to the discipline of focus (Chemical, Materials and Manufacturing).
Chemical knowledge and experience with chemical management, handling, synthesis and processing and/or materials processing, testing, fabrication, analysis, characterisation and waste disposal including but not limited to inorganic, organic and poisonous chemicals, polymers, ceramics, nano materials and powders, minerals and reactive/non-reactive metals.
Experience working with chemical management systems.
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team, and independently.
Demonstrated ability to organise, prioritise, meet deadlines and work efficiently in a busy environment with large volumes of activity.
