Monday to Friday roster - 9:30am to 5:00pm
The position
At RetireAustralia, we understand the power of therapeutic recreation to improve the well-being of our residents. Our team is committed to providing personalised care and innovative programs that promote physical, emotional, and social health.
Reporting to the Care Manager (Glengara), your key responsibilities will be:
* Develop, coordinate, and implement a variety of stimulating leisure and recreational programs tailored to individual and group needs
* Encourage resident attendance and participation in diversional therapy activities to achieve desired outcomes and learn new skills
* Assist residents with transitioning to and from activities, including facilitating safe and enjoyable bus trips and non-walking outings
* Attend special outings and assist at special functions within the community
* Collaborate with the Village Manager and carers to ensure programs meet the needs of residents
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make adjustments as needed
We’re on the lookout for someone with:
* Previous experience in a similar role (3 years minimum preferred)
* Demonstrated capacity to develop, coordinate and evaluate Diversional Therapy programs in a residential setting
* Understanding of mental health issues and their impact on residents
* Certificate IV in Aged Care or Diversional Therapy or equivalent (e.g. Certificate in Leisure and Health, Health Sciences & Therapeutic Recreation)
* Current Drivers Licence
* Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team involving residents, carers and Village Manager in program planning
* National Police Check (or ability to obtain)
* First Aid & CPR Certificate (or ability to obtain)
* Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol test
