Suitable for fifth-year RANZCO trainees, this job offers trainees a well-supported, high volume, varied (not just cataract) surgical experience across the breadth of comprehensive ophthalmology making this a great job for consolidating your surgical skills, whilst having consultant back up available where needed.The successful applicant will be based at North West Eye Surgeons which has private rooms and an associated day surgery at Devonport Eye Hospital in Devonport and private rooms at North West Medical Centre in Burnie. The registrar, as part of their usual duties, may at times also see patients at THS facilities such as North West Regional Hospital and Mersey Community Hospital. Operating will occur for the most part at Devonport Eye Hospital with some lists at North West Private Hospital. The private outpatients and theatres are well appointed with up-to-date facilities and equipment.The consultants based at North West Eye Surgeons and visiting ophthalmologists together offer comprehensive and subspecialty ophthalmic care including vitreoretinal surgery, medical retina, glaucoma, oculoplastic ophthalmology, cornea, and paediatric ophthalmology. Shorter periods of employment considered throughout this period.Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.DutiesThe Registrar is responsible for the day to day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the allocated site/facility.
