Meander Valley Council welcomes applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to join our Infrastructure team as Manager Engineering and Assets. The Infrastructure Services Department is responsible for determining Council’s capital works program, asset management strategy and execution, waste management strategy, recreation facility management, together with undertaking various projects which arise from time to time.
The Manager Engineering and Assets leads a team that is responsible for project planning and management, development and approval of designs and specifications relating to civil engineering work for both construction and maintenance of Council infrastructure. This position has a close relationship with Council’s Directors in delivering engineering solutions and also has the responsibility for supervising four direct reports within the Department - Senior Civil Engineers, Civil Engineer and the Asset Management Coordinator. This position effectively operates as second-in-charge to the Director of Infrastructure Services and is a key leadership role in the department.

What you will need to succeed
To be successful you will have completed a tertiary qualification in civil engineering and have a minimum of seven years relevant work experience. You will have both the operational acumen to provide technical oversight and strategic input, plus strong people management skills to empower your team. Experience working in Local Government will be favourable but is not essential.
You are focused but flexible in your approach to your work and thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Your well-developed time management skills allow you to shift easily, maintaining attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

What we will offer you
This Full-time permanent position is based at Council’s offices at Westbury, a short, picturesque drive from Launceston. Annual salary will be negotiated subject to applicant’s qualification, skills, and experience within a range of $121,112 to $131,952 under Council’s Enterprise Agreement 2022. Council will also pay an additional 3.5% above the amount required by the Superannuation Guarantee legislation (total amount currently 15%) in accordance with Council’s Enterprise Agreement 2022.
