About the Role:The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing clinical nursing care to Aboriginal people with a range of health and wellbeing needs. The Registered Nurse will deliver quality, holistic care and identify ways to improve health outcomes of clients through the delivery of safe clinical practice and collaborative coordination and planning of care.The key objectives of the role include:
Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Charter of Aged Care Rights, Code of Conduct for Aged Care, Quality Improvement Process and Aged Care Accreditation Standards.
Complete care assessments on all Biripi aged care clients and document outcomes.
Develop and document care plans for all Biripi aged care clients, based on their clinical needs and compliant with the funding they receive.
Review care plans in alignment with Aged Care standards. Document and communicate changes to the care plan to team members.
Provide clinical services aligned with AHPRA code of conduct for nurses, AHPRA Registered nurse standards of practice, Aged Care Quality & Safety Commission Quality Standards and the Aged Care Quality & Safety Commission Code of Conduct for Aged Care.
Liaise with all staff involved in providing client care, in the development, implementation, and evaluation of community care plans.
Effectively collaborate with team members to ensure that the function is operating effectively and efficiently, while maintaining a harmonious team environment.
Ensure appropriate medicine and vaccine cold chain processes are in place including storage, security and management.
Manage all infection prevention and control and ensure consistent implementation of relevant policies and procedures. This includes sterilisation, immunisation, practice team and patient education, notification of outbreaks and continuous quality improvement.
Adopt a risk management approach when implementing infection prevention and control measures.
Ensure appropriate ordering, checking and maintenance of medical supplies in accordance with Biripi policy and procedures.
Administer medications in accordance with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council standards and organisations policies and procedures.
Develop and deliver training to ensure Biripi Aged Care staff are knowledgeable and aware of relevant program information.
Participate in the development of health promotions and education strategies ensuring feedback from the community is incorporated into planning.
Essential Criteria:
Bachelor of Nursing.
Current AHPRA registration.
Demonstrated clinical experience.
Excellent documentation and report writing skills.
Experience working with health service agencies, non-government organisation, community groups and medical professionals at all levels.
Ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and their leaders, respecting traditional culture and ways of doing business.
Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with the local community.
Ability to maintain professionalism and the utmost confidentiality in a complex, close knit community.
Experience using Communicare and/or Alayacare or other comparable client information systems.
Immunisation experience and endorsement.
Current First Aid Certificate
Ability to hold all relevant security clearances including the National Police Check and Working with Children clearances.
Current valid Driver’s Licence.
