The agency's Technical Data Professionals work across a range of business areas and provide support to areas by co-designing analysis projects, analysing data, and reporting information and results. Data Professionals are responsible for key strategic projects or functions, and provide advice based on extensive analysis of data and information aimed to support decision making across the agency. They use an investigative approach to implement solutions to complex matters and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policy, and frameworks. They may use various methods, processes, algorithms, and systems to extract knowledge or insights from structured or unstructured data. They identify and implement best-practice approaches to data and analytics and engage in continuous improvement to ensure robust practices are embedded in their work. Data Professionals have expertise in current tools, methods, and technologies, such as R, Python, SQL, SAS, Power BI and Tableau, while also having the ability to understand new technology and ensure they impart this knowledge to others. They have strong skills in one or more area of data extraction, data manipulation, data visualisation and storytelling, statistical modelling, and machine learning. They provide advice to business on the interpretation and application of analytical results. Data Scientist Data Scientists lead projects which leverage advanced analytics techniques to solve business problems and the development of data science initiatives using statistical techniques, machine learning and artificial intelligence which create business value and drive decision making. They have strong demonstrated experience building advanced analytics models for natural language processing, computer vision, tree based and deep learning techniques using Python packages such as Pytorch, Tensor Flow and H2 OML.
