We operate an accredited Integrated Management System (IMS) incorporating:•Quality Management System, certified to ISO-9001: 2015 Standards•Health & Safety Management System, certified to ISO-45001: 2018 Standards•Environmental Management System, certified to ISO-14001: 2015 StandardsThe opportunity We are now seeking a focussed and client orientated Mechanical / Marine Engineer or Naval Architect to join our multi-disciplinary Engineering Consulting team. This role reports to our Design and Engineering Manager and can be based in Cairns, Melbourne or Adelaide. Due to the nature of the role, you must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to apply for a Defence Security Clearance.Key responsibilities includeAs part of a multi-disciplined team, undertake Mechanical (Marine) Design activities and Engineering Assessments across the product development and upgrade lifecycles related to marine systems Concept, Preliminary and Detailed Design in the following platform system areas:
Main and Auxiliary propulsion systems and related support system
Working with electrical team members in support of associated mechanical design
Platform Systems Control and Monitoring integration
Fire Protection and Damage Control in floating platform
Fluid systems, including piping and ducting design;
HVAC systems concept and detailed design, and upgrade; and
Auxiliary Systems
With the Naval Architect focusing on the following platform systems areas:
Hull and Outfit design
Structural Design and Analysis
Environmental Analysis and Qualification
Stability Assessment
Undertake studies and analysis using simulation software, eg FluidFlow, Finite Element (FE) software packages.
Performing engineering investigations and developing documentation such as proposals, reports, and specifications.
Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) focused design, to achieve reliable, maintainable and supportable design solutions.
Supporting Client and Business Development initiatives.
Mentoring and developing junior staff, as needed.
Travel for Ship Inspections will become part of the role.
About youTo be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and experience with you:
Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture tertiary qualifications and experience relevant to the role (5+ years is ideal).
Ability to independently manage small projects, with limited supervision.
Strong and articulate written and oral communication skills.
Proven ability to analyse, interpret and produce well-presented technical deliverables.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work directly with Clients, contractors and equipment suppliers, together with clear and unambiguous specification writing skills and likewise collaborate with colleagues.
An uncompromising drive to understand Client needs, provide solutions and deliver to unwavering high levels of quality with a demonstrable track record of doing so.
A commercial mindset to achieve efficient Client focused outcomes and Company profitability.
A thirst for knowledge, ongoing learning, and the self-motivation to put this into practice.
Be an Australian citizen who holds, or is eligible to hold, a Defence security clearance is essential.
Highly Desirable
Status as a Chartered Professional Engineer or eligibility to work towards attaining Chartered Status.
Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or Victoria (RPEV) status or eligibility to work towards attaining registration.
Experience in a Defence Maritime or Commercial Maritime environment.
Exposure to an engineering consulting work environment.
