About the role The Branch Manager of the Budget Management, Strategy and Support Branch is an SES Band 1 position, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. The Branch Manager has 10 direct reports, and responsibility for leading a Branch of approximately 55 staff located nationwide. The Budget Management, Strategy and Support Branch leads the delivery of:
NDIA's internal (organisational) and external budgets (Scheme level input with Department Social Services and Department of Finance) budgetsFinance business partnering services and strategic advice to internal stakeholdersReporting, forecasting and insights on financial results, budgets, and resource allocation, to stakeholders including NDIA's Board and Strategic Leadership TeamAbout you This role is ideal for a leader who can effectively balance strategic thinking with practical execution. The successful candidate will be adept at developing and executing an external budget strategy and providing expert financial advice, managing budgets, and delivering accurate financial reports. They should be skilled at creating a collaborative and supportive team environment, be forward-thinking, and ready to embrace change and new opportunities with a growth mindset.
The successful candidate will have considerable demonstrable experience in government budget management including, but not limited to, the preparation of Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook and Portfolio Budget Statements. What we're looking for in our ideal candidates:

A candidate's suitability for employment with the Agency will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This will include a criminal history check and the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance, at the Negative Vetting 1 level. This will be arranged for you, if successful.
