Kalano Community Organisation – Katherine NTAt the Venndale Residential Rehabilitation Service, the support worker is predominantly responsible for the ongoing support and safety of participants after hours.The role supports participants by providing the following: oversight and welfare support for the participants, the facilitation of activities, and general operation support.General operation support includes supporting participants in activities of daily living, including preparation and serving of meals, linen management, cleaning, and yard maintenance as outlined on the after-hours duty lists.This work involves engagement with the participant, clear communication with both case managers and management through documentation in case notes and handover documents for the purpose of communicating the client's needs after hours.All care and support is to be provided in a culturally sensitive manner in line with Venndale's Guiding principles document and policy and procedure manual.The Support Worker Team Leader takes responsibility for ensuring all shift duties have been completed, that any relevant information pertaining to a client's welfare has been documented in the case management system, and for the mentoring and training of any new support workers.In the case of two Team Leaders being rostered for the same shift, the AOD Program Manager will indicate who is to take the Team Leader role.Key Responsibilities:To work with participants who have a dependence or misuse issue with alcohol and substances of addiction.Maintain current and accurate records as required.Maintain a harm prevention approach when undertaking duties.Early identification of problems for clients and application of appropriate interventions within organisation procedures.Initiate and encourage clients to participate in after-hours activities.Assist in the preparation of after-hours meals and kitchen duties.Complete shift duties as per the shift duties list and document any exceptions.Undertake relevant training in Alcohol and other Drugs or Community Services or as required by the wider organisation.Undertake other duties as directed by management.Salary and Conditions:Salary Range: $70,283.17 - $76,042.79 per annum (pro-rata)2 Weeks Ancillary LeaveAccess to pre-tax salary packaging with CBBHours of work: 37.5 hours per week – 7.5 hours per day (Shift-worker)Location: Venndale Rehabilitation Centre (located 30km from Katherine)Selection Criteria:Residential Care qualification and/or experience.Qualifications relevant to AOD industry.Experience working with First Nations people and communities.Competent knowledge of computer software and systems (i.e., Word, Excel, etc).Understanding of the barriers and challenges that Indigenous people face in the NT.Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients, staff, and stakeholders.Sound knowledge of work, health and safety principles and practices.Current NT driver's license, valid Ochre Card, First Aid Certificate and willingness to undertake a National Police check.Covid and Influenza Vaccinated.Indigenous and/or Torres Strait Islander persons encouraged to apply.
