About the Opportunity The Senior Internal Auditor, reporting to the Group Internal Audit Manager, is responsible for executing internal audit activities as per the Audit Committee's approved plan.
This role provides independent, risk-based assurance and consulting services to enhance ASC's operations by evaluating internal controls, identifying risks, and offering insights to senior management.
The Senior Internal Auditor collaborates with leadership across the business, maintaining a strategic perspective on long-term issues and opportunities.
Operating autonomously, the Senior Internal Auditor must build stakeholder confidence in ASC's auditing services, possess extensive technical knowledge of modern auditing practices, and drive change within the organisation.
Effective communication of audit findings and implementation of recommendations are crucial for improving ASC's efficiency and effectiveness..
Responsibilities Contribute to the audit teams' success, managing aspects of audit projects,, including scope definition, execution, and final report delivery.
Lead or participate in investigations as required by the Group Internal Audit Manager.
Complete a comprehensive assessment and update of the risk-based Internal Audit Universe each financial year to facilitate the compilation of the Audit Plan.
Utilise ASC's risk recording system (Predict) to evaluate business processes and identify key operational, financial, and compliance risks and controls, integrating this information into the Audit Universe and the approved annual Audit Plan.
Update and complete audit scopes for the work program each financial year.
Manage and follow through on Business Improvement Requests recorded in ASC's audit recommendation system, from internal audits you lead or manage.
Represent the Group Internal Audit function at Audit Committee meetings and other senior forums as required.
About you ? Professional qualifications in one or more of the following: CIA/CA/CPA/ACA/MBA.
Membership or eligibility for membership to the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior internal or external auditing role, preferably working in a large, complex organisation.
Thorough understanding and practical application of the IIA International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF).
Experience in setting risk-based audit programs aligned with organisational goals.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Knowledge of Defence and Finance regulations, governance, and compliance.
Expertise in enterprise risk management and strategic risk advice.
Proficient in IT skills, with a strong emphasis on advanced use of Microsoft Excel and Word, including data analysis, report generation, and document formatting.
Commitment to high ethical standards and professional conduct.
Eligibility This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
