Clinical Nurse Specialist – Community Health Location: Kalgoorlie Unit/Division: Goldfields -> Regional Nursing - Community Health We are seeking an enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist experienced in Community Health to work within our specialised team in the Goldfields Region of Western Australia! This appointment is fixed-term – full time at 76 hours per fortnight with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. It is available to new and existing nurses working full-time, part-time on fixed-term and permanent contracts across 76 select sites. Eligible nurses and midwives may receive between $5,000 and $17,000 paid over 12-months. This position is located at the Kalgoorlie Health Campus. Kalgoorlie is Australia’s largest Outback city where mining, history and bushland combine, located 595 km east-northeast of Perth. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in this role, you would be responsible for the assessment, planning, treatment, and follow-up services to consumers of Community Mental Health Services. Liaise with all other service providers to enhance services to consumers to promote mental and physical health and carry out Mental Health promotion and education in the area. To be successful, you will have the following: Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills in area of speciality. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the Principles of Primary Health Care, Determinants of Health, and family centred practice. Demonstrated ability to solve problems, and to negotiate and communicate with customers, other service providers and members of the community. Extensive knowledge of best practice principles and quality improvement activities. Area Profile The Goldfields region of the WA Country Health Service covers the Goldfields-Esperance Region of Western Australia. The region is located in the south eastern corner of Western Australia and covers 770,488 sq km (including offshore islands). The WA Country Health Service Goldfields consists of two main health campuses located in Kalgoorlie & Esperance, and three smaller hospitals located in Laverton, Leonora, and Norseman. The Goldfields is a culturally rich region with a number of Aboriginal communities spread out across the region, 16 distinct Aboriginal language groups and an Aboriginal population that represents 12.3 per cent of our total population, with 1 in 10 people, on average, identifying as Aboriginal – this in comparison to the state average of 3.6 per cent.
