The Sycamore School provides a positive learning environment enhanced by quality teaching to assist each young person on their educational journey.As a teacher at The Sycamore School, you will:Guide young autistic people in a holistic education environment that is individually responsive, relative, and relational.Play a key role in the delivery of an evidence-based, relevant, and effective curriculum, considering the needs of young autistic people.Design, develop, and deliver individualised programs to empower young autistic people to become confident members of their community.Key Responsibilities:Develop and deliver programs enhancing educational goals, curriculum access, learning engagement, social participation, and classroom management.Plan, prepare, and deliver coherent, well-sequenced, and effective teaching and learning programs to maximise learning outcomes and engagement.Embed the Australian Curriculum in line with ACARA requirements in all curriculum planning, assessment, and reporting.Participate in collaborative curriculum development and evaluation, regularly monitoring teaching program effectiveness.Apply effective teaching strategies to support literacy and numeracy development.Select and use differentiated teaching strategies to meet the specific learning needs of young people across the full range of abilities.Demonstrate knowledge of research-based instructional practices to achieve enhanced learning outcomes.Integrate ICT into learning and teaching programs to make content relevant and meaningful.Provide opportunities for young people to understand and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and languages.Report accurately and respectfully to young people, parents/carers, and stakeholders about achievements.Supervise and direct the Education Support Officer when collaborating in your classroom.Work collaboratively with external stakeholders and therapists regarding young people's current needs.Create and maintain a supportive and safe learning environment with an inclusive and positive tone.Establish and maintain respectful collaborative relationships with parents/carers regarding their children’s learning and wellbeing.Commit to ongoing professional development and stay current with research and best practices.Support child protection procedures as per legislation and The Sycamore School’s Child Protection Policy.Operate within the guiding principles of The Sycamore School.Be part of a team providing a positive learning environment for young people from the autistic community.Be supported by a specialist team including a social worker, allied health assistant, behaviour specialist, and behaviour support assistants.Teach small classes of up to 12 students supported by a full-time Education Support Officer.Opt into available Not-For-Profit salary sacrificing to make your salary more tax-effective.Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in education or equivalent qualifications.Registered with Queensland College of Teachers.Right to live and work in Australia.Experience working with autistic young people is highly desirable.Application Instructions:A cover letter including your motivation and passion for teaching, experience supporting autistic young people, and strengths you would bring to The Sycamore School team.A resume (no more than 2 pages) including details of at least 2 referees, one from your current place of employment and one from a previous place of employment.If you are a dedicated educator with a passion for supporting autistic young people, we invite you to join our team at The Sycamore School.Applications close 2pm on Thursday 7 November 2024.
