Amazon's AU Ops Finance team in Australia is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join our dynamic team and help shape the future of our growing environmental initiatives. We are an agile, innovative organization dedicated to "making zero happen" - zero returns, zero waste, and zero defects.
In this pivotal role, you will be the crucial link between data, strategy, and environmental impact, uncovering hidden insights that propel our Australian fulfillment network towards a more sustainable and profitable future. Your exceptional analytical skills and financial expertise will transform complex data and processes into compelling reports and dashboards for key stakeholders.
Leveraging your proficiency in SQL, BI tools, and financial modeling, you will primarily spearhead initiatives that optimize reverse logistics, reduce concessions, and enhance our environmental footprint. You will also oversee cost allocations and provide valuable insights to our business partners, among other diverse ad-hoc tasks.

Key job responsibilities
1. Uncovering Insights, Driving Sustainability:
• Analyze data on returns, concessions, and waste to uncover opportunities
• Provide cost allocations insights to drive optimal business decisions
2. Mastering Financial Modeling and Forecasting:
• Develop models and forecasts to support strategic decision-making
• Provide expert guidance on budgeting, planning, and capital expenditure
3. Collaborative Reporting and Analysis:
• Partner with stakeholders to provide insightful reports and recommendations.
• Ensure key stakeholders have the data and insights they need
• Continuously identify, implement and track process improvements
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Evaluate the financial impact of new initiatives and technologies
• Provide ROI evaluation and entitlement for initiatives prioritization
5. Shaping Network-Level Strategy:
• Contribute to long-term Reverse Logistics topology planning
A day in the life
You will start by reviewing the latest financial and operational data related to returns, concessions, and environmental impact.
Throughout the day, you will work closely with Reverse Logistics Managers, Concessions teams, and Operations leaders, providing insightful reports and recommendations. Together, you will evaluate the financial impact of new initiatives that reduce our environmental footprint and enhance reverse logistics.
Leveraging your financial modeling expertise, you will develop sophisticated forecasts and budgets for our programs, empowering our leaders to make informed, data-driven decisions.
About the team
Our Team Operates out of Sydney and Melbourne Corporate Office and we travel to the sites we support when required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses
- Experience working with stakeholders
- Experience participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field
- Experience with advanced use of SQL for data mining and business intelligence
- Finance experience, with focus on reverse logistics and sustainability
