Job Title: Auxiliary Firefighter
About Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES)
As an emergency service agency, QFES ensures the safety of people and property across Queensland through prevention, preparation, response, and recovery activities in emergency situations.
Purpose of the Role
The functions of QFES are unique. It delivers high-quality fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services through a single agency, achieving improved safety outcomes for the community.
Key Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following mandatory requirements:
* Obtain employer's written consent to attend incidents and emergencies (if applicable)
* Live or work within a reasonable distance of the auxiliary fire station
* Australian Permanent Resident Status
* Manual C Class driver's licence
In addition, you must commit to attending:
* 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours; or
* 30% of calls as a shift worker or have non-routine hours
* 75% of regular drill and training sessions
* Obtain an MRV licence within 12 months of employment at your own expense
* Participate in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs, including first aid/emergency care
* Comply with QFES policies and procedures, including code of conduct, safety, and personal presentation standards
Your Key Accountabilities
As a member of a team, you will:
* Respond to fire and other emergency incidents (Note: If you haven't completed all pre-operational aspects of ARTEP, you may not attend emergency incidents)
* Promote community safety and emergency preparedness by contributing to community education activities
* Develop and maintain competencies by participating in regular drills and other relevant training courses provided by QFES
* Maintain required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training
* Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment safely and effectively
* Contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities
* Ensure maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities
* Contribute to incident reporting and general station administration as required
